Your 3 day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga adventure begins with an early departure from your accommodation in Marrakech, heading south through the breathtaking landscapes of the High Atlas Mountains. Cross the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass, rising to approximately 2,260 meters above sea level, with opportunities to stop along the way for panoramic views, photographs, and glimpses of traditional Berber villages scattered across the mountainsides.

Continue toward Ait Benhaddou, one of Morocco’s most remarkable historical sites and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the ancient ksar by walking through its narrow passages and traditional earthen buildings. This iconic fortified village has also appeared in numerous international movies and series, including Gladiator, Game of Thrones, The Mummy, Prince of Persia, and Kingdom of Heaven.

From Ait Benhaddou, continue to Ouarzazate, widely known as the “Hollywood of Morocco.” Here, you will have the option to visit Atlas Film Studios, one of the world’s largest film studios. Discover impressive sets, props, temples, palaces, and recreated desert landscapes that have featured in famous movies and television productions filmed in Morocco.

After lunch, leave Ouarzazate behind and continue through the peaceful Skoura Oasis, a spectacular palm-filled landscape dotted with historic kasbahs and traditional villages. The journey then takes you through the Valley of Roses, famous for its seasonal rose cultivation and locally produced rosewater and cosmetics.

As you get closer to the Dades Valley, make a stop at the remarkable Monkey Fingers, a series of naturally sculpted rock formations overlooking the dramatic Dades landscape. Take some time to enjoy the panoramic scenery and take pictures of this unique part of southern Morocco.

Continue to your accommodation in the Dades Valley, where you will check in to your hotel or riad. Relax after a full day of exploration and enjoy a delicious dinner surrounded by the peaceful landscapes of the valley.

the second day of your 3 days tour from Marrakech to Merzouga Desert.

After breakfast, leave the Dades Valley and drive toward the spectacular Todra Gorges, passing through scenic mountains landscapes, traditional Amazigh villages, and palm-filled valleys. Explore the narrow canyon surrounded by towering rock walls before continuing toward Tinjdad.

Stop at a restaurant near Tinjdad for lunch and continue toward a traditional Moroccan and Amazigh clothing cooperative, where you can try on traditional outfits for free, take memorable photos, and enjoy a complimentary henna tattoo created by local women.

Continue to Erfoud, famous for its rich fossil heritage. The surrounding region is known for ancient fossils such as ammonites and trilobites, which local artisans cut, polish, and transform into beautiful decorative pieces. You can make an optional stop at a fossil museum or workshop to discover how these fossils are found and prepared.

From Erfoud, continue toward Merzouga, where the landscape gradually changes into the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. Upon arrival, enjoy free time for an optional ATV or dune buggy adventure across the dunes with extra cost.

After your adventure, meet your camel guide and begin your camel ride across the golden Sahara dunes as the sun begins to set. Stop along the way to enjoy sandboarding and spectacular sunset views before continuing to your luxury Sahara desert camp.

the third day of your 3 day desert trip from Marrakech

Wake up early to witness a wonderful sunrise over the golden Sahara dunes before enjoying breakfast at the camp. After breakfast, begin your journey back to Marrakech. From Merzouga, travel through Rissani and Alnif, enjoying the changing landscapes as the Sahara gradually gives way to the mountains.

Continue your journey toward Agdz, where you will stop at a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Draa Valley, home to Morocco’s longest river, stretching for approximately 1,100 km. From the viewpoint, admire the spectacular contrast between the lush palm groves and the surrounding desert landscape. Continue through the Anti-Atlas Mountains, with a stop at Aït Saoun to enjoy panoramic views of the dramatic rocky mountain formations before continuing your journey to Ouarzazate.

Continue across the High Atlas Mountains and make your way toward Marrakech. After a long but scenic journey, arrive in Marrakech by early evening and drop off at your hotel or riad.
